Smart Space Interior’s commitment to community, sustainability and responsible design

Affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges for residents of Los Angeles.  LA’s Mayor Karen Bass suggests that the current cost of living could lead to homelessness and declared a state of emergency on homelessness when she came into office (Mayor Karen Bass).  Some of the proposed solutions include the expedited approvals of ADUs and lot subdivisions for more dense housing.  We at Smart Space Interiors are committed to contributing to the mayor’s mission of affordable housing by making these subdivisions and dense housing solutions feel comfortable and convenient.  We help customers create a vision of living in a small space without sacrificing the comforts and aesthetic designs of a larger dwelling.  The company does this by offering free staging for real estate agents with small space property listings so residents can experience our work firsthand.

We also proudly sponsor local housing non-profit organizations such as AREAA, Habitat for Humanity and LA Family Housing and participate regularly in their events for first time homeowners.  Through these events, we can host workshops and educational seminars to help potential homeowners understand the benefit of small space living.  We also teach local residents how to make the most of their living environments with careful planning and organization.

Our involvement in the local organizations inspires the products we carry and the manufacturers we interact with.  The company owners believe great design comes from a strong community.  This is why we are committed to sourcing many our products from local family-owned workshops and independent artisans who share our values of craftsmanship and consideration for the environment.  This approach helps elevate the small businesses in the community which contain the most diverse business owners in all of California (Census.gov).  It also minimizes the environmental impact by reducing harmful emissions created by long distance transportation of materials (Waste Harmonics Keter).  As we continue to grow, the company remains committed to transparency, ethical sourcing, and responsible design practices that inspire people and uplift the planet.  Our work is inspired by the values we share with our customers and the impact we can make together.
